From the restaurant's website:"CommonWealth, The People's Gastropub is a chef-driven, British-inspired, American-bred restaurant with a Public House atmosphere. Owners Jamie Leeds and Sandy Lewis pride themselves on being part of the neighborhoods where they own restaurants such as Hank's Oyster Bar in Dupont Cicle and Old Town Alexandria. ... Our menu can best be described as British "modern classics." Chef Leeds excites traditional British fare with fresh local ingredients and modern cooking techniques. The menu features a variety of traditional starters perfect for sharing and main dishes such as fish and chips, bangers and mash, and a selection of pots and pies. Every Sunday, CommonWealth honors the British tradition of the "Sunday Roast" (the British version of Sunday afternoon supper) featuring a selection of roasted meat served family-style and paired with seasonal sides made from the local ingredients."
Full bar. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner nightly. Until late-night Fri–Sat. Sat–Sun brunch 10 am-4 pm. Voted Best Gastropub in the 2009 City Paper critics' poll.
"When chef-owner Jamie Leeds puts her mind to it, she creates restaurants that become "must" destinations, and that's the case with her venture in Columbia Heights."– Gayot.com

Restaurants in the nation's capital have been hosting the power elite for a couple of centuries, and boardinghouse-turned-saloon Old Ebbitt Grill has served most of them since the days of President Ulysses S. Grant.
