Family-owned since its 1970 opening, Luna Grill & Diner is a nouveau diner with breakfast all day, blue plate specials, friendly service and reliably good food. The room features black and white parquet floors and walls painted with a sun, moon and stars, while the seating consists of wooden booths and a few scattered pillows. The minimalist décor is beside the point, though, as neighbors, regulars, artists and bargain hunters come here for the build-you-own pasta plates and comfort food specials such as barbecued ribs, fried chicken and catfish. The menu doesn't aim to wow, just satisfy with greatest hits such as nachos, chili and meatball sandwiches. Vegetarians are well accommodated here with daily "green plate" specials. The weekend brunch (9 am–3 pm) packs them in: The line looks long, but the expert service moves everyone merrily along. If you're lucky, you can sit outdoors, but there's also a good view of the street from the big glass wall of window. Full bar. Serving breakfast Mon–Fri, lunch and dinner daily. Late-night Fri–Sat. Sat–Sun brunch.
