Evoking the spirit of the quaint, family-run bed and breakfasts that spot the French countryside, L'Auberge Chez François offers an almost otherworldly charm from its suburban cottage location. Monsieur François moved the now half-century-old eatery to Great Falls in 1976, and has since handed over the kitchen to son Jacques, whose culinary prowess and popular cookbooks have gained further recognition for the legendary dining destination. Classic Franco-Alsatian cooking is the real deal: roasted rack of lamb, sautéed Dover sole and classic Châteaubriand for two. The amuse-bouche, the superior service and a host in each dining area are just a few of the extras. One of Washingtonian magazine's 100 Best Restaurants of 2008. Voted Best Restaurant, Best Service, Best for a Special Occasion, and Most Romantic in 2007 Washingtonian readers poll. Full bar. Serving dinner Tue–Sun (Sun dinner begins 1:30 pm). Closed Mon.
