Locals will fondly remembers the first peach iced tea and fried chicken salad they ever ate at Georgia Brown's. Offering "Gracious service and Southern hospitality," this cozy restaurant serves up Low Country favorites such as shrimp and grits and heavenly cornbread. Tuck into chicken livers, pulled duck spinach salad, perlau (a classic Charleston rice dish) and catfish fingers. The blackberry duck breast is a long-time favorite; some version of it has been on the menu for years. Of course, there are grits and greens galore. All this, plus there's a jazz brunch on Sundays (10 am–2:30 pm) offering a knee-weakening selection of breakfast favorites (chicken sausage, roasted red potatoes and battered French toast) and lunch items (fried chicken, jambalaya and smoked salmon). Reservations suggested. Full bar. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner nightly. Sun brunch. Voted Best Soul Food in the 2008 City Paper readers poll. Voted Best Brunch in the 2007 Washingtonian magazine readers poll.
