Two words: Burgers. Fries. Four more: Juicy. Crisp. Hot. Salty. With a multitude of locations in the D.C. area and across the Eastern Seaboard, Lorton, Va.-based Five Guys dishes out hand-patted, never-frozen burgers topped with a range of (free) extras including hot peppers, sautéed mushrooms, A1 and barbecue sauce. The food here gets a lot of ink: Local media have named it best burger, best bargain or best fries nearly every year. That may be due to the quality, or possibly to the ubiquity. There’s almost always a Five Guys near enough that there’s no excuse for eating burgers from the big national chains. No alcohol available. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Voted Best Burgers and Best Fries in the 2008 City Paper readers poll.
