Two words: Burgers. Fries. Four more: Juicy. Crisp. Hot. Salty. With a multitude of locations in the D.C. area and steadily expanding across the country, nearby Lorton, Va.-based Five Guys dishes out hand-patted, never-frozen burgers topped with a range of (free) extras including hot peppers, sautéed mushrooms, A-1 and barbecue sauce. The food here gets a lot of ink: Local media have named it best burger, best bargain or best fries nearly every year. That may be due to the quality, or possibly to the ubiquity. No alcohol available. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Voted Best Burger in the 2009 City Paper readers' poll.
