Since 1976, Clearwater's Tío Pepe Restaurant has excelled in preparing Spanish and Cuban-style Latin American cuisine, impressing diners with an in-house butcher, bakery and fresh seafood. Dark wooden beams, stucco walls, antique furniture, and authentic pottery and paintings from Spain adorn to the interior. From the menu, start with tapas such as chicken liver mousse pâté with truffles or marinated salmon served cold in a clay pot. Entrées, which are served with a tossed salad, rice and black bread, include the signature pompano relleno stuffed with crabmeat, lobster and shrimp, or the snapper with mussels, shrimp and white cheese sauce. If you desire to dine on lobster for the evening, call and reserve a size 72 hours in advance so it will be waiting in the tank for you. For dessert, choose from two kinds of flan or the chocolate velvet torte with chocolate caramel-raspberry sauce. The cigar humidor offers more than 70 different labels. The wine cellar has garnered Tio Pepe's a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence. Reservations suggested. Full bar. Serving lunch Tue–Fri, dinner Tue–Sun. Closed Mon and between meals.
