Colorfully cluttered surroundings and fabulous seafood draw crowds to the multitude of Frenchy's restaurants on or near Clearwater Beach. Frenchy's Original Cafe opened in 1981 as a hole-in-the-wall haven for waterlogged and sand-caked beachgoers. Shortly thereafter, crowds were lining up around the block for the signature fried grouper sandwiches. Though casual and whimsical in nature, Frenchy's takes fresh seafood seriously: The fish, caught by one of the company's 10 boats, has likely been out of water for only a few hours. Favorites include the Crabby Shrimp Sandwich, the Super Seafood Gumbo and the Baja fish tacos. Beer and wine available. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
