A solid choice for an excellent steak at an excellent price, Tucker's Place has been a popular steak house since opening its doors in 1984. The original Tucker's Place on South 12th Street in the historic Soulard neighborhood — there are two other locations — features a dark, comforting interior with a classic steak house ambiance. Diners can't go wrong with any of the choice chops, including the porterhouse, strip, filet mignon, top sirloin and the biggest of the bunch: the 22-ounce center-cut sirloin. Each cut — priced at about half the going rate at upscale steak house chains — comes with salad (try the signature lemon pepper dressing), baked potato and rolls. Other entrée choices include pork chops, seafood and 13 varieties of pizza. Named to the Five to Try list of steak houses in STLtoday.com. Reservations not accepted. Full bar.
