Before Robbie Montgomery was the star of the show at her revered soul food restaurant, Sweetie Pie’s, she sang backup as an Ikette in the St. Louis-based Ike and Tina Turner revue. She now showcases her talent via mouthwatering soul food at the original Sweetie Pie’s on Florissant in Dellwood and at a second, more spacious location on Manchester in Forest Park. Food is served cafeteria-style, and the choices change daily. Among the specialties of the house: smothered pork with gravy, baked chicken, Salisbury steak, barbecued ribs, and fried catfish accompanied by sides of sweet corn, fried okra, cooked cabbage and sweet potatoes. Voted Best Soul Food in 2007 Sauce magazine readers poll. No alcohol available. Cash only. Serving lunch and dinner Tue–Fri and Sun. Closed Mon and Sat.
