The original Sansui location lies at the bottom of an unassuming apartment building but can be easily spotted by the waterwheel adorning the entrance. While sushi eateries have become commonplace in the St. Louis area, Sansui's exotic and intriguing menu sets it apart from the pack. Try nightly specials, which may include rarely found delicacies such as fish jaw, grilled head of sea bream (a type of tropical fish), monkfish liver and even the occasional appearance of the celebrated fugu, the highly toxic (before preparation) puffer fish. More cautious diners will enjoy chicken teriyaki, sukiyaki (thinly sliced beef, cabbage and mushrooms) and the popular deep-fried stuffed shrimp. The full bar includes an extensive sake selection. Reservations suggested. Named to STLtoday.com's Five to Try Sushi restaurants. Serving lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun and between meals.
