If your out-of-town guests are afraid of heights, the Space Needle is out. If they spent the early 90s singing along to The Bodyguard soundtrack instead of Nirvana, that disqualifies The Crocodile Cafe or any grunge music sites of interest. One Seattle institution that will not fail to impress is Ray's Boathouse. With a 50-foot Ray's sign and over 60 years of history, this is not a landmark to be missed. The casual, upstairs café is renowned for its cocktails (cucumber-lime mojito, rosemary-grapefruit drop), affordable dishes, and outdoor dining with a magnificent view of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The downstairs, more of a fine-dining restaurant, focuses on local, sustainable seafood: Featured entrées include sablefish in sake kasu, Alaskan red king crab legs and grilled white prawns. Voted Best Outdoor Dining in 2007 Seattle Weekly readers poll. Full bar. Café serving lunch and dinner daily. Restaurant serving dinner nightly.

A gateway to the Pacific Rim, Seattle's abundance of outstanding restaurants includes some of the nation's very best Asian and seafood eateries (Wild Ginger and Ray's Boathouse, respectively) along with nationally renowned contemporaries (Dahlia Lounge and Lark).
