Over the last 25-plus years, family-owned Pagliacci Pizza has evolved from a single U-District hangout to a small local chain of well-loved pizzerias. Pagliacci has solidified its reputation with crispy, New York-style crusts and signature, seasonal pies by the slice or whole pie. It also offers a modern, family-friendly atmosphere and delivery service. For starters, appetizers go beyond the usual breadsticks and Caesar salad with the house specialty centioli: a super-thin crust covered with olive oil, crushed chili peppers, fresh garlic, parsley, and fontina and mozzarella cheeses cut into tiny rectangles. Then there are the top-notch pizzas. For veggie lovers, there's the tomato Gorgonzola pizza, or the fresh veggie loaded with tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, olives and green peppers. Specialty pies include the Goat Cheese Primo with sun-dried tomatoes, green peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes, or the Verde Primo with artichoke hearts, mushrooms, pesto, goat cheese, garlic and mozzarella. Other entrées include calzones, Nonna's Pasta (baked penne pasta tossed with creamy tomato and five-cheese sauce) and vegetarian or sausage lasagna.
