Dana Davenport is the Willy Wonka of Seattle. With the assistance of family members, he runs the local collection of Dilettante Mocha Cafés, where chocolate is found in many wonderful forms. At these combination chocolate shops, coffeehouses and cafés, the atmosphere suggests European elegance, with hundreds of tiny lights illuminating the tables, counters and display cases. The exquisite chocolate deservedly receives most of the fuss here: The hand-dipped chocolate line features an assortment of chocolate truffles, chews, creams and toffees. There are also various chocolate-covered fruits, nuts and espresso beans known as dragees. Dilettante roasts its own coffee blend and makes distinctive lattes and cappuccinos as well as house-specialty frappés. There’s also a small menu of sandwiches, salads and soups. Beer and wine available. Generally serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Hours vary by location.
