For more than 15 years, Cactus restaurant, which has recently added three locations, has been known for its innovative Tex-Mex, Southwestern and Spanish cuisine. Earth-toned walls with murals and painted tabletop designs decorate the attractive dining room. The seasonally evolving menu features fish, chicken or steak soft tacos, and a handful of soups and salads such as the Southwestern-spiced Caesar salad and the Mexican chop salad. Winning entrées include butternut squash enchiladas, mushroom and sweet potato quesadillas, and pork tenderloin with adobo and tomatillo sauces. There’s also a lengthy tapas menu, which includes blue corn calamari, white prawns sautéed in a spicy chipotle-lime glaze, and grilled jalapeños stuffed with herbed goat cheese and wrapped in bacon.
