Even though traditional German fare stands in sharp contrast to California cuisine, locals flock to Teske's Germania Restaurant, and for good reason. Besides the fabulous German food and beer, the restaurant provides ample opportunities to celebrate, with Maifest, Sommerfest, Springfest, Festivus and Oktoberfest events. A sophisticated, Old World dining room is adjacent to a white-tablecloth beer garden, and a handsome bar area serves German beer standards – Spaten and Erdinger are on tap – plus two dozen or so varieties of schnapps. The menu features meat, meat and more meat: varieties of beef, pork, veal, chicken and sausage. For starters, there are potato pancakes, garlic fries, jalapeño cheese-stuffed pretzels, and a sausage platter. Entrées include veal cordon bleu served with fried potatoes and vegetables, Paris-style pepper steak in a cognac sauce, and pork roast served with sauerkraut. Successful diners must pace themselves while enjoying their meals, as all entrées come with a slice of delicious apple strudel. Full bar. Kids menu. Serving lunch Tue–Fri, dinner Tue–Sat. Closed Sun–Mon.
