Don’t judge Amber India Restaurant by its unassuming strip mall setting. Rather, the choice original artwork hanging on the walls makes for a better preview of some of South Bay’s favorite northern Indian cuisine. The wait for a seat at the popular original Mountain View spot and the second Santana Row location is eased by a specialty cocktail such as the Pink Elephant (vodka, black-raspberry Chambord and lychee fruits). The lunch buffet and à la carte dinner menu offer excellent versions of the standard curry, tandoori and kabob dishes in addition to unique specialties that can’t be found elsewhere, such as tawa salmon, a sautéed filet with mint, bell peppers and tomatoes. A quick-serve spin-off, Amber Café in Mountain View, serves "Indian bits and bites" such as wraps and Indian pizza. One of the San Francisco Chronicle's Top 100 Restaurants of 2007. Voted Best Indian Restaurant in 2007 Metro Active and The Wave magazine readers polls. Full bar at both Amber India Restaurant locations. Beer available at Amber Café. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
