Formerly Clay Pot, downtown San Jose's 19 Market is a chic Vietnamese dining hot spot with sophisticated décor accented with warm lighting and earth tones. 19 Market adheres to some of the latest restaurant trends – contemporary Asian Fusion cuisine, specialty cocktails and small plates. At the bar, patrons sip drinks such as the Saketini (with sake and vodka) and the 19 Market-hito, the house mojito. The lengthy list of starters includes shrimp bruschetta, roasted quail seasoned with lemongrass and honey, and Korean barbecued short ribs. In addition to the can't-miss, classic pho, other entrées such as lemongrass chicken, baked sea bass and seasoned prawns served with garlic noodles are available. Decadent desserts include banana flambé and tropical sweet rolls, which are bananas and jackfruit fried in a wonton shell. Voted Best Vietnamese Restaurant in the 2006 Metroactive.com readers poll.
