A tiny, well-lighted shop with a chalkboard menu, Rosamunde Sausage Grill attracts wiener-worshiping locals from the Haight neighborhood and beyond. Fourteen varieties of sausage are served, including chicken sausage, smoked duck, wild boar, beer sausage (beef and pork), Hungarian spicy sausage, bratwurst and even a vegan sausage. These doggies are grilled, not boiled, and can be topped with grilled onions, spicy beef chili, sauerkraut and hot peppers on a French roll. On Tuesdays, and only on Tuesdays, Rosamunde serves juicy cheeseburgers that many locals consider the best in the area. It can take 20-30 minutes for a sausage or burger to be grilled, so, fortunately, patrons are encouraged to go next door to the Tornado Bar for a beer and a seat. In fact, the wall between the two establishments is dented, so servers notify patrons that their sausages are ready by giving a hearty knock. And you can always return to the Tornado, sausage in tow. But consider washing it down with a celery soda from Rosamunde. No alcohol available. Cash only. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
