Mission District institution Mitchell's Ice Cream has been delighting customers since 1953 with its wide array of high-butterfat ice cream – a toothsome 16 percent. Still family-owned and still available only in the Bay Area, Mitchell's wows you with well-established creativity from its traditional batch freezers. Standout flavors include chocolate caramel crackle, Mexican chocolate and rum raisin. Tropical flavor favorites – most of the fruit is shipped from the Philippines – include avocado, baby coconut and ginger.
