Adopting the standards of upscale dining to its meatless philosophy, Greens Restaurant revolutionized the world of vegetarian cuisine upon opening in 1979. The refurbished warehouse at historic Fort Mason offers spectacular views of the marina and the Golden Gate Bridge, and its award-winning menu attracts vegetarians and carnivores alike. Weekday à la carte menus feature the likes of spinach and braised endive pizza, Vietnamese yellow curry, and mesquite-grilled vegetable skewers, while Saturday night's fixed price dinner may offer gourmet tartlettes and vegetable-stuffed phyllo pastries. Beer and wine available. Serving lunch Tue–Sat, dinner nightly. Sun brunch 10:30 am–2 pm. One of the San Francisco Chronicle's Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants of 2009. Voted Best Restaurant with a View in the Bay Guardian's 2009 readers' poll.
