Gourmet regional Italian cuisine in plush, scenic surroundings mark Vivace, the featured restaurant at the Four Seasons Resort Aviara in north San Diego. Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase views of the Pacific Ocean in the dining room, which also features a fireplace during cooler weather. Additional seating on an outdoor terrace is available as well. Start with a bowl of smoked tomato soup, a warm baby octopus salad or an antipasti plate. Pastas, available in both appetizer and main course portions, include black spaghetti with rock shrimp and calabrese sausage, or carnaroli risotto with Maine lobster and basil. Other recommended entrées include crispy branzino (Italian sea bass) with saffron braised fennel, wood-fired guinea hen breast with organic soft polenta, and the bistecca tagliata – a dry-aged, 40-ounce bone-in sirloin for two. Try four-layer chocolate cake or tiramisu for dessert. Kids' menu. Full bar. Serving dinner nightly.
