The most sizzling and smoky fun you can have in a Korean barbecue restaurant is cooking the marinated meat yourself on a tabletop gas grill – a popular practice at San Diego's Seoul B.B.Q. restaurant. You'll need at least two orders to cook your own, though. Otherwise, you can enjoy a meal prepared in the kitchen and served on a hot plate, with an option of lettuce leaves instead of cutlery to pick up your food. Recommended barbecue dishes include beef short ribs (galbee), sliced sirloin (bulgogi) and shrimp (saewoo gui). Sides include the Korean standard kimchee, which is garlicky marinated cabbage and something of an acquired taste. Speaking of which, daredevil diners may want to sample Korean beef tartare as an appetizer, or a hot pot casserole entrée with goat or beef intestine. Beer, wine and soju (Korean sake) available. Serving lunch, dinner and late-night daily. Closed Sun.
