A local variation of the now-popular smoosh-and-smash chain ice cream parlors, MooTime Creamery has delighted young and old alike since its 1998 debut. The parlors are decked out in 1950-style, neon-lighted soda fountain décor. Customers first select a base (ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet or sherbet), then their favorite mixers (candy, nuts, cookies and fresh fruit). Next the staff will “smoosh, smash, squish, squash, crush and crunch” the concoction on a frozen granite countertop. Finally, comes the container: a fresh hand-rolled waffle cone, waffle cup, bowl or cone. Shakes, sundaes, ice cream pies and made-to-order cakes are also available. No alcohol available. Serving during lunch and dinner hours daily. Voted Best Ice Cream in the 2008 City Beat readers poll.
