Marrakesh restaurant has been serving well-prepared Moroccan cuisine in La Jolla for more than 20 years. With a dimly lighted dining room, tented ceilings, low tables with pillow seating, servers in fezzes and belly dancers on Friday and Saturday nights, Marrakesh creates a feast for all the senses, not just the taste buds, You'll wash your hands in rose water to start the five-course, prix fixe dinner and end the meal by cleaning up with hot towels. The Traditional Feast starts with a wonderful lentil and vegetable soup, followed by salad with freshly baked bread, bastilla (phyllo dough stuffed with chicken, eggs and almonds baked and covered with powdered sugar and cinnamon). You'll then choose between three entrées – chicken kabobs, halibut in tomato sauce, or lemon chicken. The meal is capped with a cup of fresh mint tea, baklava and fresh fruit. Other entrée options include a vegetarian dinner, lamb brochettes, shrimp kebabs, rabbit and quail. Reservations suggested on weekends. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
