THIS RESTAURANT CLOSED OCT 31, 2009Ranked as not only one of the best restaurants in Texas, but among the finest in the nation, Le Rêve is "the dream" of chef/owner Andrew Weissman, a local product who returned home after sharpening his culinary skills in France and New York. This 40-seat intimate dining room on the River Walk specializes in modern French cuisine that is prepared "à la minute" and consequently served at a leisurely pace. But that leaves more time to linger over notable appetizers such as caramelized onion tart or foie gras with pear, apple and peach salad. Past main courses have featured beef tournedos and diver sea scallops with lime leaf and coconut broth. Jacket required. Reservations required. Beer and wine available. Serving dinner Tue–Sat. Closed Sun–Mon. James Beard Foundation Best Chef: Southwest nominee, 2008-2009. Voted Best Local Chef in the 2009 Current readers' poll.
