One of the country's first restaurants in a category that has become known as "fast-casual," Sea Island Shrimp House has attracted crowds ever since Dan and Chrissy Anthony opened their first location in 1965 on Rector Street. The Anthony family continues their proprietorship of Sea Island, which has added several other San Antonio-area locations through the years. Gulf-fresh seafood comes fried, broiled or chargrilled in platters or abundant single portions at budget-friendly prices. Specialties of the house include Mexican-style shrimp cocktail and oysters on the half shell for starters and entrées such as grilled or fried shrimp, lemon pepper fish, and rainbow trout. Beer and wine available. Kids menu. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Voted Best Seafood in the 2008 San Antonio Current and 2007 Express-News readers polls.
