The Schilo family came to Texas in 1914 and three years later opened their namesake delicatessen that would become a San Antonio institution, serving authentic German food that hasn't changed (for good reason) in years. There's an array of German sausages and deli sandwiches, including one of the best Reubens in town. But Schilo's is best known for its split pea soup, overflowing frosty mugs of draft root beer and decadent cheesecake. On weekends, live accordion music accompanies your dining experience. Beer and wine available. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
