Half Victorian tearoom and half down-home diner, white frills- and doily-laden Peach Tree Café & Catering serves some of the area's best home-style dishes. Located in Boerne, a half-hour or more from downtown San Antonio, the café is predominately populated by locals and well-seasoned travelers with informative hosts. Peach Tree sets up shop in an old Victorian house, creating an antiquated atmosphere in intimate dining quarters with limited seating. Delightful cheese rolls are served with every order. Open only for lunch, the restaurant boasts a menu full of salad, sandwich and soup options. Daily specials feature heavier dishes such as chicken and dumplings, pork chops and scalloped potatoes, and chicken and mushroom crêpes. Desserts include house-made peach cobbler, cakes and pies. On Sundays, brunch features eggs Benedict, huevos rancheros and various lunch specials. A cookbook is also available, detailing many of Peach Tree's favorite recipes. Sorry, there's no recipe for the cheese rolls: It remains a secret. No alcohol available, but beer and wine is planned for fall 2008, as are dinner hours for Fridays. Serving during lunch hours daily.
