A pioneer among the growing number of bakeries in Salt Lake City, Avenues Bakery & Bistro sells a whole lot more than bread. Bread-making techniques used at Avenues come straight from France, requiring a longer-than-usual fermentation process, and well-traveled bread connoisseurs claim a baguette from Avenues tastes just like a baguette from Paris. Breakfast offers a sizable menu with dishes such as the Lindsay Gardens (two eggs and avocado on rosemary toast) and the Rose Park (huevos rancheros with black beans, tomato salsa, avocado and crème fraiche on a tortilla). Many diners come for the sandwiches available during lunch such as the Ultimate Grilled Cheese or the Pear Pesto Primo Melt with mushroom, provolone, fontina, asiago, basil pesto and roasted red pepper. Beer and wine available. Voted Best Bakery to Take Newcomers in the 2007 Salt Lake City Weekly's critics poll. Serving during breakfast, lunch and early dinner hours Mon–Fri, and during breakfast and lunch hours Sat–Sun.
