Despite its humble strip mall location and rather unassuming interior décor, Café Morocco brings a cuisine to Sacramento that is anything but lackluster. Fundamental Middle Eastern menu items such as hummus, kabobs and falafel anchor an exotic list of North African specialties. On any given night, this may include the likes of Moroccan tagine (a chicken or lamb dish mixed with vegetables and spices), chicken sumac (lightly sautéed garlic chicken served with tabouli salad and hummus in a pita shell) or Egyptian-style mujaddara (spiced chicken, rice and lentil stew). Café Morocco always features a varied selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes, as well as an interesting list of imported Moroccan beers and coffees. Weekend evenings feature live belly dancing. Voted Best Middle Eastern in the 2007 Sacramento News & Review's readers poll. Beer and wine available. Serving lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
