Abbott's Frozen Custard, home of the extra-creamy, egg-based frozen custard created by Arthur Abbott on Long Island way back in 1902, is perhaps Rochester’s most notable culinary legacy, now encompassing more than two dozen upstate New York locations. Flavors include the standard chocolate and vanilla as well as seasonal offerings such as butter pecan, rum butter and coffee. Build your own sundae with your favorite flavors and toppings, or choose one of the specialties such as the Snickers Supreme, Tin Roof or Royal Banana Split. Voted Best Ice Cream in the Democrat and Chronicle's 2007 readers poll. Hours vary by location.
