Let's say home is your first place. Work is second. Then there is The Third Place. Tucked away in the quaint Five Points neighborhood in Raleigh, The Third Place is a coffeehouse that aims to provide a sense of comfort and refuge for its loyal customers. Jill Marie and David Benson have combined their design and culinary expertise to create a home away from home for the assortment of devoted regulars who have found their way to this eclectic establishment. Feel free to sprawl on the big purple couch next to a dozing student, people-watch at an outdoor table with a hipster, or finish up the great American novel across from a tie-wearing business executive. Locally produced art adorns the walls, and local musicians often showcase their talents to an animated nighttime audience. In spite of chic furnishings, exotic glass lanterns and oriental rugs, children are welcome. In fact, the owners have created a miniature play space, guided by the belief that it "takes a coffee shop to raise a child." As if the atmosphere and coffee itself weren't enough to recommend it, The Third Place boasts a notable selection of vegetarian-friendly sandwiches and salads, delicious pastries, and daily specials to supplement the extensive beverage menu. No alcohol available. Serving during breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night hours daily, but full menu only served during lunch and dinner daily.
