When owner Sara Foster, caterer and former chef to Martha Stewart, opened her doors back in 1990, she was not expecting the brunch-time crowds that followed and was immediately forced to spruce up the few pieces of sporadic yard-sale furniture she had placed in her specialty grocery store to accommodate the swarms of people. And the customers just kept coming. Now, funky tables and chairs, walls painted bright yellow and green, and glass jars of jellies and sauces welcome loyal locals drawn to her all-house-made menu. Sara's recipes, which put an element of gourmet into typical deli fare, have been published in the Today show's Today's Kitchen Cookbook and Country Home magazine. Even the locally roasted coffee offers a blend unique to Foster's. New York-style crumbcake, Key lime pie and chocolate whoppers are a must. Dinner specials rotate every two months. No alcohol available. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Sat–Sun brunch 7:30 am–2 pm.
