The more obscure the Mexican restaurant, the better? At least that's the case with Fiesta Grill, located on the outskirts of Chapel Hill about five miles west of Carrboro Plaza. The rustic linoleum flooring, the sparse number of tables and the lamentable lack of a bar area are countered by great service under the care of host and manager Jesus Bravo. Authentic, made-from-scratch food is the key, in particular the extensive selection of fish dishes and specialties such as chicken mole and carne milanesa (breaded and butter-fried beefsteak). Tamales, Caldo 7 Mares (spicy broth with seven kinds of seafood) and a variety of tacos are all delicious. Beer and wine available. Serving lunch and dinner Tue–Sun. Closed Mon.
