Mio Sushi's flagship location in a Victorian house in northwest Portland invariably attracts long lines of diners at prime eating times. In contrast to the minimalist décor, the sushi and other Japanese dishes (for the sashimi-phobic) are inspired and ambitious. Try the crowd-pleasing sushi pizza, which is seaweed topped with creamy sauce, sticky rice, fish or shrimp, and green onions. Sample specialty rolls include the Dragon Roll – eel, spicy tuna, avocado, and sesame seed with unagi sauce – or the Sunset Roll – tuna, salmon, crab, cream cheese, avocado, green onion and masago (smelt roe). Voted Best Sushi in Willamette Week's 2007 readers poll. Beer, wine and sake available. Serving lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
