Both homey and hip, Soba serves top-notch Asian Fusion cuisine in an ultramodern, three-story restored Victorian structure in the Shadyside neighborhood. The separate dining areas are as tranquil – water trickling down a black tile wall, another wall made of smooth black stones – as the bar area is hopping. Soba offers a diverse, eclectic and ever-changing menu of seafood, steak and more, featuring both small and large plates and bowls such as braised beef short ribs with potatoes and leeks. Small plates can include tuna tartare and calamari. More traditional large plates can include seared tuna, filet mignon and pad thai, and the popular late-night menu offers pork dumplings, seaweed salad and various sushi offerings. The full bar features a host of martinis as well as a sake sampler. Serving dinner nightly. Late-night menu served 10 pm–midnight Tue–Sat. Selected one of Pittsburgh magazine's Top 25 Best Restaurants of 2008 and Best Pan Asian/Fusion in the magazine's 2008 readers poll. Voted Best Fusion Restaurant and Best Decor/Ambiance in the 2007 Pittsburgh City Paper readers poll.
