Tucked into the heart of Pittsburgh's downtown business district at One Mellon Center, proprietor Kevin Joyce's The Carlton has the look and feel of the quintessential power-lunch or business-dinner spot. Since its 1984 opening, it has earned numerous honors, including a DiRoNA award. Dark wood paneling, caricatures of city celebrities on the walls, and creative hardwood-grilled meats and seafood compare favorably with national steak house leaders. The daily changing menu allows for the talented kitchen staff to add a certain local panache that makes The Carlton's contemporary fare some of the most exciting in the city, with dishes such as Pittsburgh's Traditional Steak Salad (with fries, of course), lamb osso buco and lobster and crab ravioli. Full bar and extensive wine list. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
