Headquartered northwest of Pittsburgh in Bridgewater, PA, Bruster's Real Ice Cream began as a family-owned ice cream shop in 1989. Founder Bruce Reed has since seen expansion to more than 200 stores, most of them locally owned and operated. All ice cream is made fresh on-site at each location, with up to 38 flavors of ice cream offered daily and more than 140 flavors in the Bruster's recipe book. Popular flavors include butter pecan, White Turtle, chocolate raspberry truffle, mint chocolate chip, Key lime pie and Cotton Candy Explosion. Seasonal flavors include pumpkin, peach and black raspberry. Other options are sundaes and splits, shakes, smoothies, blasts, ice cream cakes and pies, frozen yogurt, ices, and no-sugar varieties.
