A favorite stop for diners throughout Florida, TooJay’s Original Gourmet Deli has grown from its 1981 flagship operation in Palm Beach to a highly successful, statewide chain. The handful of locations in Orlando prove quite popular among locals seeking New York deli-style breakfasts, lunches or dinners in a laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere. A formidable selection of omelets, smoked fish breakfasts and potato pancakes stands out amid morning fare, as do the mouthwatering sour cream- and fruit-drizzled blintzes (aka sweet, cheese-filled crêpes). If you miss the 11 am breakfast cutoff, there’s plenty on the extensive lunch menu, as well, including house-made soups, giant salads, Jewish-style deli selections, burgers, wraps and piled-high sandwiches (with everything from chicken salad to tongue). House specialties for lunch include corned beef sandwiches on rye and chicken noodle soup. Lasagnas and sweet-and-sour ground beef cabbage rolls are some of the top dinner options. Dessert options include Banana Dream cake, black and white chocolate cookies, and Killer Cake. Reservations not accepted. Kids menu. Beer and wine available. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Voted Best Sandwiches in the 2009 Orlando Sentinel's readers' poll.
