Orlando is fortunate to house one of Florida's largest Vietnamese communities and subsequently some of the best representations of its flavorful Eastern cuisine. Such an example is Colonial Drive's Little Saigon, a decades-old local staple for the hearty phos, banh hois and rice dishes of Vietnam. With a painted skyline of Saigon (now Ho Chi Mihn City) opposing the wall of an illustration of Orlando's downtown, the simple yet sleek dining room holds a bustling and decidedly hip crowd seeking some of the best-value ethnic eats in town. Among a stellar list of appetizers, summer rolls served with a delicious peanut sauce remain the most popular. Vietnamese pancakes are a close second. Traditional noodle dishes and soups packed with meats and vegetables dominate Little Saigon's extensive entrée menu. Don't overlook rice vermicelli with chicken, beef, shrimp or pork, though. Consult the knowledgeable servers when in doubt. The authentic dessert menu is worth sampling, as are the delicious Vietnamese soda-like lemonades, and native coffee sweetened with condensed milk. Beer and wine available. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Voted Best Vietnamese Restaurant in the 2008 Orlando Weekly and 2007 Orlando magazine readers polls.
