You might wonder why, in an area known for its quality local seafood, locals line up out the door of a New England-style restaurant. Doubters clearly have never experienced Boston's Fish House. From its Winter Park location – and sister restaurant in New Smyrna – this casual seafood joint has been offering its good-value meals in a fun maritime atmosphere for nearly 20 years. Decorative harpoons and anchors aside, Boston's serves straight-up, first-class ocean bounty. Order at the counter, and the huge portions of fresh fish fare will arrive at your table via paper plates. If the quality of a seafood restaurant can be judged by its soups, house-made white clam chowder and sherried lobster bisque speak wonders for what's to come. And that's platters, hot sandwiches and combos, all with fish and shellfish flown in regularly from the coasts of New England. House specialties include haddock, cod, and fried clams and oysters. Although fried is undoubtedly the way to go here, broiled fish comes in four delicious styles (plain, Ritz cracker crust, Cajun and garlic butter-white wine). Sides such as coleslaw and battered onion rings prove some of the best accompaniments land has to offer.
