The first of a six-restaurant Oklahoma City group started by owner Paul Seikel, Pearl's Oyster Bar opened in 1984 and staked claim as the city's first Cajun restaurant. It has since added a location. At the south side restaurant, short black and red tile partitions separate the bar from the dining room, which is lined with dark wooden tables. Wrought iron chandeliers and partition fixtures further evoke New Orleans. Pearl's seafood-heavy menu includes a number of Cajun and Creole specialties, fresh salads and sandwiches, steaks, chicken dishes, and an array of fried and broiled seafood. Starters begin with the restaurant's namesake oysters, of course, which are offered raw on the half shell as well as in the form of cornmeal-crusted oyster nachos. Peel-and-eat giant prawns, seafood gumbo and Maryland crab cakes are also offered. Entrées can include Cajun favorites such as crawfish étouffée, jambalaya, shrimp Creole, blackened redfish with blue cheese butter, and red beans and rice. A Sunday Bourbon Street Champagne Brunch includes a Cajun Bloody Mary bar and includes creations such as an andouille omelet, eggs Orleans (scrambled and topped with popcorn shrimp and tasso hollandaise sauce) and Creole breakfast enchiladas.
