The long line out the door often intimidates newcomers to the weekend brunch at Rick & Ann's Restaurant, but regulars know how to deal with the near certainty of an hour- to two-hour-long wait: A nearby Peet's Coffee & Tea provides snacks and morning brews to help pass the time. Fortunately, breakfast/brunch – it's the same menu – is served through lunch daily, and many diners take advantage of the late-riser-friendly policy well into the afternoon. A very family-friendly restaurant, tourists and business people can be found during the week on Rick & Ann's country-style outdoor patio or inside the airy dining room. Breakfast and the ever-popular weekend brunch features pancakes (whole-grain, buttermilk, rice flour and cornmeal), cheese omelets and a variety of feel-good sides including house-made applesauce, home fries, chicken-apple sausage, pork chops, lox and red flannel hash (corned beef hash with beets added). Special French toast is made with challah bread dipped in orange cardamom batter, and gingerbread waffles taste good with or without toppings. Lunch offers vegetarian chili, spinach salad and sandwiches such as grilled portobello, veggie burgers, BLTs, and turkey and avocado. Dinner patrons come for home-style favorites such as chicken potpie, macaroni and cheese, meat loaf and grilled pork loin. Beer and wine available. Kids menu. Serving breakfast, brunch and lunch daily, dinner Wed–Sun.
