Since 1986, Cafe Brenda has continuously proven that nutritional vegetarian cuisine – a frightening concept for some – can be both innovative and delicious. Its success might have something to do with the fact that chef/owner Brenda Langton is a wholehearted proponent of local growers and organic farming, or the fact that her menu changes seasonally to reflect farmers’ harvests. Vegetarian dishes range from dips, pâtés, croquettes and salads to more avant-garde offerings such as mock duck tacos. For those in need of meat, seafood is a specialty here, with menu choices that may include shrimp quesadillas and an almond-encrusted walleye, as well as beef dishes sourced from Minnesota-based Thousand Hills Cattle Co. Beer and wine available. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
