Tall, crazy sushi creations. Good Korean food. Asian Fusion entrées. Kobe-style beef. Sake Tumi is a mix of the expected and the unexpected, both conventional and offbeat. Upstairs is Kai Buddha Lounge, where you can imbibe and listen to the DJ in a decidedly un-Milwaukee space as you wait for a table. Once you get to your table, take it from a local: The best choices here are the Korean food and the Kobe beef. Indulge in the contrasting textures, temperatures and tastes of Korean kalbi (ribs), bulgogi (sliced, seared beef), bibimbap (rice with vegetables, a bit of an acquired taste) and kimchee (a fermented cabbage condiment, ditto on the acquired taste). Try Sake Tumi's fusion version of Kobe beef in a basil butter sauce. Every buttery bite lives up to its pampered, massaged hype. The cashew-crusted halibut is another favorite. But the eatery signature creations, billed on the menu as "New School" sushi, might be just what you're looking for. These towers of tuna, rice, yellowtail, unagi, cream cheese, wasabi mayonnaise and more are about three times the size of normal maki rolls. With names such as Godzilla and Sexy Scallops, thrill-seekers love 'em. Presentation here is emphasized, so it's a good place to impress a date or a client. Servers are very well-versed and can help you steer through the lengthy menu. Full bar. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
