After 10 o’clock at night, if you’re over 30 and sober, you may have trouble blending in at this late-night university student hangout. Located at Locust and Oakland, near the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee campus — with another location on Layton Avenue — this place has been serving good and greasy food to the over-refreshed for a long time. Its continued popularity is a testament to the quality of the food. It doesn’t have to be this good to serve drunk college students, but it is. The portion sizes are one of the reasons that Oakland Gyros tops everyone’s list — for about $7, there’s so much food, you really can hardly fit it into a pita. The platters feature fries, rice and salad, too. There are other foods on the menu — chicken kabob, moussaka, spinach pie, Greek salad — that are very good, but who eats a salad at 1 am?
