A meal at one of the two Memphis-area Wang's Mandarin House restaurants is like a whirlwind tour through the Far East itself. The menu boasts regional offerings from the Peking, Hunan and Szechwan provinces with side trips of city fare from Canton and Shanghai. You'll find familiar dishes such as Peking duck and the Mandarin Flower Basket (a medley of shrimp, scallops, chicken and veggies, served in a noodle basket) as well as unique specialties such as the Yangtze River Shrimp (ladled with bamboo shoots, snow peas and black mushrooms in a spicy sauce). Tried-and-true faves such as fried rice, lo mein and moo shu are also listed on the menu, along with a dozen vegetarian entrées, several traditional soups and steamed dumplings. Factor in Wang's Mongolian barbecue station, the piano bar, the airy dining rooms, the live bands and the tiki-style tropical drinks, and you'll feel like you've landed a short-term pass to paradise, Chinese style. Want to skip the ambiance but still enjoy the food? Luckily for you, Wang's also delivers. Reservations suggested. Full bar. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner nightly.
