Located in a Mediterranean-style building in Overton Square, Paulette's has been a homey yet sophisticated Midtown mainstay since 1973. Posh antiques, low-slung chandeliers and European landscapes provide the perfect setting for the cozy tables for two that line the main dining room. Continental dishes such as Filet Paulette (a beef filet in a cream sauce with fresh vegetables) and Trout Paschal (trout with a lemon butter sauce) are quite popular, and locals cut out of church early to line up for the weekend brunch with its delicate egg dishes and crêpes. The raison d'être at Paulette's, however, is the dessert menu, a decadent wish list of sugary treats. Try the signature dish, the K-Pie (also known as the Kahlua-Mocha Parfait Pie – a blend of coffee ice cream, Kahlua and shaved chocolate in a pecan-coconut crust). Taste the hot chocolate crêpe (French vanilla ice cream, Ghirardelli chocolate and pecans). Or go for the Jamaican Crêpe Amandine (a heady rum, brown sugar and banana combo, topped with orange-apricot sauce and fresh whipped cream). Whichever you choose, you'll savor every spoonful.
