Mustard yellow walls, framed local art and marble-top tables compose the upscale-funky décor of this quaint Mediterranean sandwich shop, known for its creative take on the traditional Greek pita sandwich, the gyro, a lamb and beef combination typically atop a buttered pita accompanied by various vegetables and relishes. Omar’s menu is simple: a handful of gyros and hummus dip, with baklava for dessert. But with a hearty helping of deliciously marinated meat (or grilled bell peppers and onions for the vegetarian lot), fresh condiments and Omar’s special yogurt sauce, lack of options isn’t really a problem. In addition to classic lamb-beef, chicken and vegetable varieties, Omar’s offers sweet barbecue- and Caribbean jerk-style gyros that prove as scrumptious and satisfyingly fresh as they are unique. Though gyros are made to order, service proves relatively quick and efficient. Kettle-fried potato chips make a perfectly crispy accompaniment to any sandwich. Beer available. Serving lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
