Lonnie Edwards knows a thing or two about Chicago-style hot dogs. When he and wife Diane lived in the Windy City, he owned a hot dog restaurant in addition to working a full-time job. A job transfer brought the couple to Louisville several years ago, and Lonnie decided to open a similar eatery here, thus educating locals on the pleasures of a Vienna Beef hot dog in a poppy seed bun with yellow mustard, bright green relish, tomato, cucumber, chopped onions, hot peppers and celery salt. Lonnie's original location, which opened in 2002, was replaced a year later by the current one in St. Matthews. Additional menu items include chili, Polish sausage, Italian beef sandwiches, gyros, corned beef, chicken breasts and wings, fried fish (Friday and Saturday), and soul food plates (Wednesday only). A second location opened in summer 2008 at 1034 Bardstown Road. No alcohol available. Serving lunch and early dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
